The Select Hockey Program is for CCYHA players who wish to play extra games and/or tournaments outside of their house league schedule. Select teams are comprised of CCYHA house players who are selected for the team via a try-out session in mid-October. Only players in good standing (i.e. no outstanding payments) are eligible to participate in the try-outs.

Players selected are required to attend their HOUSE team obligations before Select team obligations.  Failure to attend House practices and games will result in removal from the Select Hockey program.

The Select Hockey Program is not part of the House Program or House fees.  This is a separate program with additional costs for which players selected will incur an additional fee (approximately $500-650 based upon the schedule).

This year CCYHA will field only ONE team (17 players) in each division: 10U/Squirt (2009-2010), 12U/Peewee (2007-2008) and a 14U/Bantam (2005-2006) and NOT each age group of that division.

Interested players must register (click here for our registration page) and pay the tryout fee of $30 prior to attending tryouts.  Tryout dates and times are as follows.

Day Date Rink Start End Players
Friday 10/25/19 Dublin 1 5:30 PM 6:50 PM 10U Select Tryouts (2009/10)
Friday 10/25/19 Dublin 1 7:00 PM 8:20 PM 12U Select Tryouts (2007/08)
Saturday 10/26/19 Dublin 1 4:50 PM 5:50 PM 14U Select Tryouts (2005/06)

House Hockey Registration Update

House Hockey Registration Update for the 2019-2020 Season

As previously mentioned many divisions filled up quickly.  Currently only the Springfield program is open.

Before you start the registration process, will need to obtain a 2019-2020 USA Hockey number HERE and if you are new to CCYHA, you will need to scan your birth certificate and upload it during the registiration process.  To go to the registration page, click HERE.

In addition, we wanted to inform you of a couple changes for the upcoming season.

1. Springfield House Hockey is partnering with CCYHA to aid in the administration of their house hockey program for the 2019-2020 hockey season. For CCYHA families, the only notable change is that CCYHA 6U/8U (mini mite/mite) house teams will play a few Springfield house teams throughout the season. While the majority of games will continue to be scheduled in Columbus as they have been in the past, CCYHA house teams (6U/8U) will also have the opportunity to play their first “away” games in Springfield one or two times during the season.

2. Due to the number of 8U/Mite players and the varying skill level at this age group, CCYHA will tier this division.  Players that have had multiple years of team hockey in an organized league and have the appropriate skill-level based upon an evaluation process to take over the first few weeks of the house season will be placed in a separate ADM group.  This group will consist primarily of the experienced older aged players.  The final number of players in this group will be based upon overall House registration. Further information can be found on our House Hockey Program Overview page.

We look forward to another exciting year at CCYHA.  The season klcks off on September 28th and 29th with three weeks of evaluation sessions.  The schedule for this first month will be out shortly.

Declaration of Player Safety, Fair Play & Respect

Declaration of Player Safety, Fair Play and Respect

Coaches, Parents & Players –

USA Hockey is committed to creating a safe and fair environment for all participants. Respect for the game, opponents, coaches, and officials is a critical part of that environment and it covers several different aspects of sportsmanship and fair play. This Declaration of Safety, Fair Play and Respect will guide a change in culture as to what is considered to be acceptable/unacceptable body checking and competitive contact at all levels of play.

The Declaration clarifies and updates existing rules/definitions to emphasize the key points to more clearly outline what is deemed acceptable and unacceptable behavior (whether it be body contact/checking or banging on the boards). Click on the link below to read the Declaration documents and view a video that shows examples of actions deemed "acceptable" and "unacceptable" to help illustrate expected behavior.

Continued Partnership with PCA

CCYHA is proud to announce its continuing partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA) for the 2019-2020 season.

As an organization we have committed to serving the families in our hockey community by helping to develop not only good hockey players, but ultimately, good people.  We recognize the importance of athletics being co-curricular, not extra-curricular — the valuable lessons learned through youth sports sustain and drive our young athletes to meet the many challenges they face away from the ice.

CCYHA is committed to supporting coaches and parents as they share the valuable, character developing lessons learned through youth sports.  As such, we are excited to announce our continuing partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance, a non-profit organization that provides tools, resources and training for youth sports organizations across the country. Through this partnership, we will be hosting a series of workshops for our coaches, parents, and young student-athletes with the ultimate goal of providing the tools and resources to further strengthen our growing organization by taking an intentional approach towards elevating our culture, supporting coaches and parents, and serving your young athletes.

Some workshops will provide specifically tailored training and information for designated coaches and our newest members of CCYHA.

The first workshop  is scheduled for

Sunday, September 8, 2019

3:00pm - 5:00pm

Dublin Community Recreation Center (DCRC)

but is open to any other CCYHA coaches or managers desiring to attend (especially coaches new to CCYHA)

Concussion Management & Baseline Testing

Baseline Concussion Testing

Should your player sustain a head injury, a baseline test is used as a resource to return the concussed brain back to the baseline state.

If you are interested in having your player take a concussion baseline test, you may schedule your player during an open session by contacting Casie Elander at the number/email below.

Casie Elander Med. AT - Concussion Testing Coordinator at OhioHealth Sports Medicine

Cell: 614-620-8939

614-566-GAME (4263)

Participants must be at least 10 years of age and the test results are good for two years.  There is no fee for the test, but it does last approximately one hour and takes place in a group setting so it is important that athletes are on time.

Upon scheduling a time, Casie will send detailed information and the required forms. The Dublin location is scheduling August already.

How do I update my player's contact information so that my husband/wife also gets the schedule reminders, emails from coaches, and emails from the League?

Go to the CCYHA home page and click on "Edit My Account" (last item on left hand menu).  Enter your email address and password (the one you used to register your child).  Select the individual you need to edit.  Edit the profile as needed.  Select if you want email reminder for games and practices.
